Who is Question Box?

Question Box is a collaborative between users, providers of information, researchers, and nonprofits.

The current users live in the villages of Phoolpur and Ethida, which are 2-3 hours outside of Delhi, India. They are the reason Question Box exists.

The users ask a wide range of questions, including cricket scores, paddy farming advice, codes to download songs on their mobiles, homework questions, University exam results, train schedules, commodity prices, and where to get a personal loan.

The Operator answers the Questions. She speaks the local language as well as English, intermediating the wired world and the village world. Working from home, the Operator can use her computer training while keeping close to her family.

The NIIT Institute (TNI) is a nonprofit organization promoted by NIIT Ltd in New Delhi. Question Box is lead by researcher Dr. Ritu Dangwal and supported by a dedicated team of engineers and administrators. TNI implements and undertakes the day-to-day management of the Question Box Project.
